The CWF Difference

There are plenty of conservation organizations out there. Why is CWF so special? Well, we're only too happy to expound on the secrets of our success! It just so happens that wonderful attributes, such as engaging and attractive publications, award-winning programs and a balanced approach to issues, have not only made CWF a credible voice for wildlife in Canada, but have also lent a uniqueness to our organization that makes us stand heads above the crowd. Here's a sampling of the values make us unique:

WE'RE 100 PER CENT CANADIAN AND PROUD!

Being 100 per cent Canadian is one of CWF's core values, and the most important one for many of our supporters. That's because CWF supporters know we focus first on wildlife populations and habitats at risk in Canada. After that, our work naturally extends to highlighting local wildlife issues closer to home. We know from experience that when it comes to inspiring people to make a difference for wildlife, there's no better motivation than getting to know the goings-on in one's own backyard.

COMMUNITIES SHARE THROUGH US

Throughout the year, CWF hosts a variety of countrywide celebrations including National Wildlife Week (the week of April 10) and Rivers to Oceans Week (June 8 to 14). Our goal to promote action and awareness is achieved by communicating with Canadians through our celebrated print publications and classroom curricula, online through information on our various websites, and at festivals and events.

WE'VE GROWN FROM HUMBLE GRASSROOTS BEGINNINGS

CWF was created in 1962 by a group of people who had strong views and convictions when it came to protecting wildlife.

WE CREATED WILDLIFE 101

Our award-winning WILD Education programs — Project WILD, Below Zero, Learning About Wildlife and Learning About Watersheds — provide educators with the tools to teach young Canadians about wildlife and the environment. In the classroom and out of doors, kids that have a WILD Education are lucky to discover nature in fun and innovative ways.

WE'RE AN NGO!

CWF is a non-governmental organization. This means that instead of getting money from governments, we are entirely funded by generous, caring Canadians who want the future of Canada to include healthy wildlife populations and habitats thriving with life. That's what we want, too, and with your continued support, we can make that wish come true with CWF's balanced, non-politically motivated approach to wildlife conservation.

CWF AND CANADIANS SHARE CORE VALUES

CWF knows that Canadians care deeply about our wildlife and the vast sweeping spaces they call home; both are a large part of Canada's image as a land of rugged beauty. CWF shares this vision and works with many citizens to make sure that treasured memories connecting to wildlife, and an appreciation and respect for our natural world is part of what it means to be Canadian.
