According to Environment Canada, the volume of one tonne of carbon dioxide, one of the main greenhouse gases, would fill a two-storey, three-bedroom house. One metric tonne is equal to 1,000 kilograms. Through energy consumption in the home, on the go and at work, every year the average Canadian produces roughly five tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
