Larry the Loon makes a splash in Toronto
The continued success of national best-seller and children’s book Larry the Loon is cause for celebration! If you haven’t already heard, this true story was penned by Canadian authors and artists who decided the entire proceeds of the book sales would be donated to wildlife conservation through the Canadian Wildlife Federation. Following the book’s original launch in August, author Judith McMurray and artists Loretta Rogers, Robert Bateman and Doug Dunford went on a press tour early in December to share their story with Canada. It was a busy day for everyone, but exciting to be speaking to so many major media outlets.
The ‘Loon Crew’ wrapped up a busy day with a celebration at Loretta Rogers house with many of the artists colleagues, friends and family in attendance. It was a pleasure for CWF to be involved with so many amazingly talented individuals.

“All of the individuals involved in this creative project are an outstanding example of Canadians coming together for a common goal, education and conservation of wildlife” said Rick Bates, Executive Director of CWF. “The creation of this story by a community of friends and the support of the project by their colleagues and business associates represents the kind of wildlife supporters that make us proud to be conservationists; proud to be Canadians.”
CWF will be using the proceeds to fund their Endangered Species Programs and recent Shoreline Stewardship project, which are perfectly in keeping the conservation message that is brought to life in the beautifully illustrated pages of Larry The Loon.
