Message from Wade Luzny

As CWF's new executive vice president, it is my pleasure to highlight some of the changes and successes of our organization over the past year, a time of tremendous change at CWF.

The year 2007 has marked a new era at CWF. We launched the beginning of many exciting initiatives in a bold new strategic plan that will guide our activities in the next five years. Already, we have many major achievements to report.

CWF is dedicated to fostering awareness and appreciation of our natural world. By spreading knowledge of human impacts on the environment, sponsoring research, promoting the sustainable use of natural resources, recommending legislative changes and co-operating with like-minded partners, the federation encourages a future in which Canadians live in harmony with nature.
To increase our public profile, we are revitalizing the CWF brand with a new logo and messaging, redesigning our main CWF website, and starting activities to target the interest o younger audiences.

We've increased program outreach by adding roving regional staff in Western Canada and Quebec to our team who will help us enhance the effectiveness of our programs across the country.

We've created a new initiative called the Canadian Wildlife Federation Learning Institute that will strengthen CWF's capacity to promote innovative and state-of-the-art learning about wildlife and conservation for the new century.

We've forged new partnerships, redesigned key programs and publications — including our Bulletin newsletter — to respond to he regional interests of our members, and launched a brand-new program devoted to climate change, all of which have garnered an enormous response.

I cannot conclude without offering a special thank you to Colin Maxwell, CWF's former executive vice president who retired last year and whose leadership was excellent, and to the individuals who embody the true core of the Canadian Wildlife Federation — our members, supporters and tireless staff. I am looking forward to the many successful years to come working with all of you, and thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Wade Luzny
