Tall Ships on the Quays 2011
About Tall Ships on the Quays
From Wednesday, September 14 to Sunday, September 18, the Quays of the Old Port of Montreal will present the second edition of Tall Ships on the Quays. This event was a huge success in 2010, attracting more than 150,000 visitors to celebrate ships, sailing, wind and water. This year the event is coming back strong with unique artistic and cultural programming set to take over Quai Jacques-Cartier, which will be transformed into a lively maritime village to welcome six Tall Ships that have sailed in from Canada and the United States especially for this occasion.
Get to know your St. Lawrence River through interactive kiosks and fun activities. Try our Fish-D viewers and see how different aquatic species see their world. Get your hands wet measuring water quality. Enjoy stunning aerial photography of the St. Lawrence’s sunken villages. Learn how many marine mammals live in the river and about the rescue network that helps them. Sign up for the Sail for Wildlife program. Join in our Wild Education games and activities, and much more!
As part of the festivities surrounding the arrival of the Tall Ships, check out the many music concerts, on-site activities, comedians portraying several well-known personalities, and an accordionist who will mix among the crowds of visitors, adding even more humour and fun to the festival – both during the day and at night. At night, take a walk on the Quays and admire the illuminated Tall Ships: a vision that will take your breath away!
Don’t miss the arrival parade of the 6 Tall Ships on September 14, around 4 pm! Ship visits begin on September 15. For more information, visit Quays of the Old Port. See you at the water’s edge!
