“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
- Mahatma Gandhi

The heat is on in Cancún, Mexico, this December. Sure it’s balmy, but the real heat is coming from the United Nations COP16 summit, which took place from November 29 to December 10.

The convention brought 15,000 delegates from 192 countries together to decide on the targets that must be met worldwide to reduce climate change, along with the steps that must be taken to significantly reduce greenhouse-gas emissions post-2012, when the Kyoto Protocol is set to expire.

CWF brought its message that Education Can Change the Climate to Cancún. CWF was onsite with a youth exhibit and online with its new website CanChange.ca to engage teachers, students and members of the general public in discussions about conservation.

Created by the CWF Learning Institute and Tangle Media, CanChange.ca highlights CWF’s educational resources, such as the Rivers to Oceans water ecology videos and webisodes from last year’s COP15 conference in Copenhagen. The website grew as the climate change conference evolved, with new photos, videos and journals from the conference venues uploaded regularly. CWF also explored the biodiversity of the Yucatán Peninsula during the climate conference and contracted Gallant Productions to produce daily webisodes from Mexico between December 6 and 11.
