A Birthday Bash that Gives Back »

Rather than request the latest toys or trendy clothes for her tenth birthday party, Candice asked six friends to follow her example and donate to the Canadian Wildlife Federation. The troupe of fourth graders raised a whopping $100 — a sum that will assist CWF’s wildlife conservation efforts.

Fifth-Graders Raise Dollars for the Peregrine »

They’re only 10-years-old, but Morgan Young and Claire Butler have already done something wonderful for their favourite Canadian species at risk — the peregrine falcon.  Last fall, the Grade Five students raised $420.65 for the falcon by selling hockey tickets and plush toys at their school in Kanata, Ontario.

Hard Work and Initiative Generates Outdoor Learning »

With the co-operation of landowners Jim Beck and the Hickman family students from Southern Kings Consolidated School in Montague, P.E.I., turned an adjacent woodlot into an enjoyable and interactive learning environment.  Teachers, as well as many students, produced a 2.25-kilometre interpretative nature trail through the woodlot named the Southern Kings Natural Trail.

Kids for Turtles »

Kermit the Frog once said, “It’s not easy being green.” Well, he was right. Human development is rapidly destroying the wetlands and forests that local amphibians, reptiles and insects call home. But on the horizon there is a glimmer of hope.

Kids for Turtles Environmental Education is a volunteer group of kids and adults who are devoted to the restoration of animal habitat and the protection of our native reptiles and amphibians. Founded in 2006 by Bob Bowles, the organization sets out to engage children and their parents in nature and educate them on its preservation.

Our young conservationist strikes again!  »

You may remember seeing Amanda profiled in a previous CWF Bulletin with her “Please Save the Snakes” petition. Now eight-years-old, Amanda is focusing her efforts on polar bears after learning how polar bears are being impacted by climate change. Amanda began to worry that polar bears might not be around in the future. And so began her efforts to protect them.
