Our young conservationist strikes again!
August 26, 2008
You may remember seeing Amanda profiled in a previous CWF Bulletin with her “Please Save the Snakes” petition. Now eight-years-old, Amanda is focusing her efforts on polar bears after learning how polar bears are being impacted by climate change. Amanda began to worry that polar bears might not be around in the future. And so began her efforts to protect them.
Gore Mutual Insurance held a broker appreciation charitable donation request and, with the help of her mother, Amanda nominated CWF. And are we ever glad she did! Amanda is receiving $1000 that she will give to CWF. This donation will be key to supporting Dr. Andrew Derocher, a polar bear researcher and professor at the University of Alberta, in his polar bear research.
Amanda is also circulating a polar bear petition (with 80 signatures so far) and is selling silicone bracelets with proceeds going to CWF again to fund polar bear research. Amanda is truly an inspiration!
CWF wants Canadians to get involved in climate change solutions on every level. That's why the federation is providing the inspiration and the tools for individuals to contribute to a climate-friendly way of life. Join in the discussion at www.CheckerspotMagazine.ca.
