Native Plant Nurseries in Uxbridge was formed in 2003 to respond to the need for locally collected native plant material.

Native Plant Nurseries serves the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Its owners are passionate about helping restore Ontario's ecological biodiversity, promoting the incorporation of native plants in all gardens and restoration projects and making these plants easily accessible and affordable for all.  Native Plant Nurseries promotes the benefits of Ontario’s native plants, such as being extremely drought tolerant, and allows them to flourish in municipalities with increasing watering restrictions. These beautiful plants also provide food for butterflies, insects and birds – animals that are both attractive and beneficial.

The team at Native Plant Nurseries is dedicated to producing local native plants from seed in an ethically sustainable fashion. Only 10 percent of a plant’s seeds are collected to ensure that there is plenty of seed to propagate the species and provide food for wildlife, and no pesticides are used, which minimizes impacts on local fauna.

The plants are grown and stored in an outdoor nursery as opposed to a greenhouse to ensure that they are hardy and able to withstand all weather conditions. This helps alleviate transplant shock, improving its ability to thrive once planted in the ground at their permanent home.

Native Plant Nurseries provides a variety of services in addition to selling plants, including natural landscape design, contract seed collection and expertise on growing and ecological restoration to help property owners create and enjoy a natural landscape that is sustainable and requires minimal maintenance. The nurseries offer discounts on all bulk orders as well as on plants that are purchased for educational purposes or by non-profit organizations.
