Creating Your Legacy is Easy

People often tell us they would like to provide a gift to the Canadian Wildlife Federation that will ensure its financial future and stability for the next generation of Canadians and their families to benefit from and enjoy the extraordinary natural beauty of our country. Charitable giving through your estate – often referred to as a Legacy Gift – is a way you can ensure the conservation of our wildlife and natural spaces that make Canada unique.

By creating a Legacy Gift today to benefit CWF in the future, you can help CWF continue its programs without affecting your current finances or financial plans. There are many ways to leave a Legacy Gift, allowing you and your family to choose the one that is best for you.

Creating a Gift is Easy

Most Legacy Gifts are specific or residual donations designated in a Will. A Legacy Gift can be created when preparing a Will or by adding a Codicil to an existing Will. Lawyers will often add a Codicil to a Will without charge if you provide specific wording.

Other types of Legacy Gifts include gifts of life insurance, gifts of securities, RRSPs, RRIFs, TFSAs and trusts. When creating a Legacy Gift of any type, you should always consult your trusted professional legal and financial advisors and your family.

Narrative

Nature and the environment are the foundations of our economy, our food sources, our drinkable and usable water, our outdoor recreation and our health. For many, they are also important spiritual touchstones.

Your legacy can define the future for all Canadians.

The values we share as Canadians, our wildlife and the beauty of its natural habitat, and the benefits that a healthy environment provides to society – this is our legacy.

The Reality Today

  • Canada has over 700 species at risk.
  • Our wildlife habitat continues to be lost faster than we can restore it.
  • Environmental pressures like climate change and pollution are worsening.
  • Our environment, our economy, our health and our culture are founded on our relationship with nature and wildlife.

  • Harness the best science, Indigenous Traditional Knowledge and on-the-ground action to conserve Canadian wildlife and its habitat
  • Expand wildlife and environmental education to create the next generation of leaders in conservation

The importance of the Canadian Wildlife Federation:

  • A 50+year history connecting Canadians to support conservation
  • The strongest advocacy voice and grass-roots educational programs in Canada
